Okay, I don't have my book on me, so I'm doing this all from memory, but the book I read said that someone did something to tick Zeus off or something and blah blah I can't remember exactly how Pandora was sent down, but she was given a box from Zeus as sort've a wedding present. He told her not to open it no matter what, but Pandora was too curious for her own good and eventually, despite being told not to, opened the box anyway.

Re: Do you like Vanessa « Reply #7 on: 05/30/2004 at 22:49:29 » Isis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That true Pandora was never evil, she was created by the gods to be sent down to earth as punishment for Permethious stilling fire from Olimpus and giving it to man.So anyway she was like given a box or jar and tolled not to open it and you know when someone tells you not to do something you pretty much want to do it more and so comes out evil so I guess she was a curse for man kind. So she is evil, because she's a punishment!

Fire was sacred to the gods I think, so they punished the guy who stold it from them and gave it to man.

Hmm, maybe man needs fire more than the gods. They have to be so uptight about everything.

Pandora herself wasn't a punishment, the box she was given was one. Zeus told her not to open it though he knew perfectly well that she would because of curiousity.

Cool. Question. Why would Zeus give her the box in the first place, if he knew she was going to open it? (I have a feeling that this has been asked before.)

[glow=purple,2,300]zeus hated man so why not try to off them all by unleashing all the horrors from the box and who better to do it then a "gift" from him?[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]That was the punishment. He made it look like it was Pandora's fault by giving her the box so everybody blamed her. Get it? Its a clever little plan to pin the blame on someone else.[/glow]
